Becoming Mother Birthing Service is owned and operated by Martha Sheahan since 2009.

As a young adult, Martha had her first experience as a birth support person. After that birth, she knew she was destined to work with expectant and new mothers. After the births of her own children, Martha felt the timing was right to complete formal training to complement her natural instincts as a doula. She obtained her certification as a birth doula with DONA International in 2009. It is her mission to provide a positive family experience throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and beyond. In 2016 Martha began her studies to become a Certified Professional Midwife in the state of Wisconsin.  She is apprenticing as a student with Innerbirth Midwifery, located at Burlingtion Birth and Wellness Center.

Martha is also active in her community. She is a founding member of Racine and Kenosha Birth Doulas. She has offered free community childbirth and breastfeeding classes at her local Babies R Us. She teaches cloth diapering classes at RG Natural Babies. In her free time, she volunteers with the Racine Birthing Project.
